What is loss of lip volume?

Changes in the shape and size of the lips occur from early childhood. It is generally during the late teens that lips reach their maximum volume and from that time onward subtle changes occur. These changes can be cumulative and over time the lips will also appear changed. This is a result of several factors including decreased elasticity of the skin, sun damage, the formation of wrinkles and changes in the alignment of the teeth, muscles and jaw structure. The result can be thinner lips with poor edge definition and a marked down-turning of the lip corners.
